Abstract

A golf swing practice device comprises a base 5, a horizontal bar 1 terminating in an axle, and a ball 8 attached to one end of a wire cable 7, the other end of which terminates in an eye 5 which is freely rotatable around the axle. A split pin 4 allows the cable to be quickly demounted from the axle to allow for easy interchange of tethered balls with different length cables.

1 2341327 PORTABLE GOLF SWING PRACTICE DEVICE This invention relates to a

Golf-Swing Practice Device.

One of the difficult factors of playing golf well is to achieve consistency of stroke. This device enables the golfer to practice towards consistency since the stance or foot position does not have to move for each stroke. It can be used both indoors or outside.

The device consists of a free-standing steel frame, from which hangs a hard practice golf ball. The ball is secured to a wire rope and rope thimble by two mechanical splices or talurits. The ball-wire unit is available in two lengths to allow both ground level and tee height strokes. The ball unit is placed on the end of the frame secured by means of a pin and washer and it hangs such that when struck, with a golf club, it will pivot around the axis of the bar and return to its original position. - A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:Figure 1 Shows in perspective the device with ball unit securely hung and ready for use. Figure 2 Shows the removal sequence of the ball unit for interchange or replacement. Figure 3 Shows the ball unit assembly in detail. Figures 4, 5, 6 Show the front, side and plan elevations of the device.

1 2 Referring to the drawing the device consists of a free standing Frame 1 with a practice ball 8 secured to a length of wire rope 7 over a rope thimble 5, secured by means of two mechanical splices or talurits 6. A washer 9 sits above the lower talurit. A nylon sleeve 10 may be inserted in the hole through the ball.

In order to change the ball unit Fig.3 the securing pin 4 and washer 3 are removed and replaced after ball unit is refitted. This operation is necessary when interchanging the two different length ball units or when renewing a worn ball unit.

Claims

A small portable frame with a practice golf ball securely hung so that when struckthe ball will freely pivot around the axis of the bar and return to its original position.
2. A portable golf-swing practice device as claimed in claim 1. To enable golf stroke practice almost anywhere, indoors or outside.
3. A portable golf swing practice device as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2.

To enable the golfer to practice stoke consistency and swing action.
4. A portable golf swing practice device as claimed in claim 2. or claim 3.

To enable the golfer to practice both ground and 'tee' height strokes.
5. A portable golf swing practice device as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the practice balls are easily removable for inter-change or for renewal.
