Abstract

A partition structure comprising substantially vertical and substantially horizontal bars. The horizontal bars are secured to the vertical bars by means of parts (7, Fig. 1) projecting from the end of the horizontal bars being inserted into rectangular openings (10, Fig. 1) in the vertical bars and engaging said vertical bars. The individual bar comprises a planar web (1) with bent flanges (2) along the rims. A plate (4) with bendings (4a, 4b, 4c) along the edges is secured to the edges of the bent flanges, said bendings securing cover profiles (5) of a length of 10-15 cm. During mounting the cover profile is led in a somewhat turned position over the bendings so that lugs (5a, 5b) displaced relative to each other are led over the bent rims, whereafter the cover profile (5) is turned in such a manner that the lugs (5a, 5b) engage the bent rims (4c) and the cover profile (5) will be situated parallel to the bar. A decorative profile (6) is positioned on the outside of the cover profiles (5). <IMAGE>

Description

A PARTITION STRUCTURE The invention relates to a partition structure comprising substantially vertical and substantially horizontal bars, the horizontal bars being secured to the vertical bars by parts projecting from the end of the horizontal bars being inserted into openings in the vertical bars and engaging said vertical bars.
A partition of this type is known from Danish published accepted application No. 145,473. This partition is suitable for supporting cover plates and placing insulating material between the cover plates.
The object of the present invention is to provide a partition structure which is more flexible that hitherto known, and which e.g. also permits the placing of glass plates in the partition.
A partition structure of the above type is characterised in that the bars consist of a planar web part with bent flanges along the rims, a plate with bendings along the edges being secured to the edges of the bent flanges for securing cover profiles. The cover profiles, which are inserted from their respective sides of the bar, can thus be used for securing a support strip for glass plates between them.
The horizontal bar can advantageously comprise a projecting part in the form of a rectangular rod secured to the web part and insertable into an opening in one of the side plates in one of the vertical bars and locked in position in the opening, thus obtaining a very strong partition structure.
The bar may e.g. be locked in position in the opening by a number of lugs of the plate material being bent over the metal rod in order to secure said rod. As a consequence a very strong partition structure is obtained.
The cover profile may advantageously be U-shaped and comprise substantially punched out lugs, which are displaced relative to each other in the longitudinal direction, and which may engage the bent rims of the front plates. During mounting the cover profile is led over the bar in a somewhat turned position so that the lugs are led over the bent rims, whereafter the cover profile is turned in such a manner that the lugs msy engage the bent rims, and the cover profile will be situated parallel to the bar. The length of the bar is 10-15 cm.
The bar may advantageously comprise a planar web plate with bent flanges along the rim, a plate with bendings along the rim being secured to the edges of the bent flanges. The plate may e.g. be secured by spot welding from the outside thus obtaining a particularly strong and sturdy bar capable of enduring high loads.
The invention is described in greater detail below and with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which Fig. 1 illustrates part of a partition structure according to the invention and comprising substantially horizonal and substantially vertical bars, Fig. 2 illustrates the partition structure of Fig. 1 and in addition the cover profile and the decorative profile, Fig. 3 is a sectional view of a bar supporting a glass plate, Fig. 4 is a sectional view of a bar supporting a plate of a thicker material, and Fig. 5 illustrates the final partition.
Fig. 1 illustrates part of a partition structure, in which the frame consists of substantially vertical and substantially horizontal bars. The horizontal bars are secured to the vertical bars by parts projecting from the end of the horizontal bars being inserted into rectangular openings 10 in the vertical bars and engaging said vertical bars. As illustrated in Figs. 2 and 3 the individual bar comprises a planar web part 1 with bendings and bent flanges 2 along the rims. Plates 4 with a number of bendings 4a, 4b, 4c are secured to the edges 2a, 2b of the bent flanges 2. The plates 4 can e.g. be secured to the edges 2a, 2b of the bent flanges by spot welding from the outside. A cover profile 5 with punched out lugs 5a, 5b are secured to the bendings 4a, 4b, 4c of said plates, said lugs being capable of engaging the bendings 4c.During mounting the cover profile is led over the bar in a somewhat turned position so that the lugs, which are displaced relative to each other, are led over the bent rims 4c, whereafter the cover profile 5 is turned in such a manner that the lugs 5a, 5b engage the bent rim 4c, and the cover profile will be situated parallel to the bar. The cover profile 5 is locked in this position by means o,f a number of additional punched out lugs 5d pressed in under the bent rim 4c and preventing the cover profile 5 from being released. The length of the cover profile is 10-15 cm. More cover profiles may be located along the bar. A decorative profile is mounted on the outside of the cover profile 5.
The horizontal bar comprises an outwardly projecting part in the form of a rectangular rod 7 which is e.g.
screwed to the above mentioned web part 1. In the bottom side of the projecting part of said rectangular bar 7 a tranverse groove 7a is provided, which after insertion of the rod 7 into the rectangular opening 10 of the vertical bar may engage the plate material of the plate 4. After insertion of the rod 7 two lugs of the plate material may be bent over the metal rod 7 by means of a screw driver or the like for securing and locking said bar.
Fig. 3 further illustrates strips 8 for supporting e.g. glass plates 9. The strips 8 are placed on the bar and secured by means of the decorative profiles 6 which are led over the cover profile 5 from their respective sides. The decorative profiles 6 end in a bending 6a capable of engaging a bead 11 of the cover profile 5 and being retained by said bead.
The width of the individual bar is preferably approximately 100 mm.
The partition structure is easy to mount. The vertical bars, which e.g. end in length adjustable posts - cf. e.g.
Danish published accepted appllcation No. 139,784 - are mounted first. The horizontal bars are then inserted between the vertical bars, the projecting parts of the horizontal bars being inserted into openings in the vertical bars and fixed thereto. At last the wall elements or the like are mounted in the sections thus provided, the elements in question being supported by strips secured by means of the decorative strips which are inserted from their respective sides of the bar and secure the support strips therebetween.
Fig. 5 is an example of an appearance of the final partition. Plates of frosted glass may e.g. be placed in the sections. The vertical bar on the outermost left side may be part of a door frame.
The inventive system is flexible and applicable in connection with window elements and doors. To this should be added that it is easily amended at will and easy to move and remove.
The partition structure according to the invention can be varied in many ways without thereby deviation from the idea of the invention. Bars of other shapes may e.g.
be used, and the projecting bars can also be constructed in a different manner.
