Abstract

A piece of material is folded, wrapped and fastened in such a way as to form a collar to fit around the neck of a container for liquid, such as a wine bottle, for the purpose of collecting drips from that container when liquid is poured. It may be made from a piece of absorbent or non absorbent material of any colour and given size, decorated or undecorated and which may be lined or unlined. The collar has at least one radially outwardly extending lip, and is fastened by press studs, clips, velcro or other adhesive or tied with ribbon threaded through the material (Figure 7). <IMAGE>

Description

COLLAR FOR WRAPPING AND FASTSING AROUND THE NECK OF A CONTAINER FOR LIQUID This invention relates to a collar which can be wrapped and fastened around the neck of a container for liquid,such as a bottle, for collecting drips when liquid is poured from the container.
It is known to wrap a towel or the-like around the neck of a wine bottle to collect any drips issuing from the pouring opening and to prevent them running down the bottle. However, the use of a towel or the like for this purpose is unsightly and the towel, after frequent use, becomes soiled and has to be replaced with a clean one.
The present invention aims to provide a simple, inexpensive collar which can be used on a container and then disposed of.
According to the present invention there is provided a piece of material which can be wrapped and fastened to form a collar around the neck of a container for liquid for collecting drips when liquid is poured from the container, comprising a sheet of material or series of materials prepared ready for wrapping and fastening around the neck of a container and having at least one radially outwardly extending lip.
Some embodiments of the invention will now be described, by way of examples, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 illustrates a rectangular strip of material or several sheets thereof to form the embodiment.
Figure 2 illustrates the placement of absorbent lining on the Wrong Side of the embodiment.
Figure 3 illustrates the placement of a ribbon on the Right Side of the embodiment.
Figure 4 illustrates the attachment of press fasteners to secure the embodiment, the lining and ribbon together.
Figure 5 illurtrates the forming of the collar by means of fastening the press studs and the radially outwardly extending lips.
Figure Ç illustrates the ribbon bn the embodiment with extensions for tying. -- f s Figure 7 iliü6trates the attachment of ribbon or the like on the embodiment by means of eyelets with extensions for tying.
Figure 8 illustrates the forming of the collar by means of tying with the radially outwardly extending lips..
The design of the collar with the radially outwardly extending lips such as to allow a gap between the container and the upper part of the collar thus allowing any drips to run dolm and be absorbed into the lining of the collar.
The embodiment may be made of paper, textile or plastic material and may be provided with a lining with absorbent qualities of.wimilar materials. The embodiment may be ribboned, embossed, printed or labelled for identification or enhancement.

C L A I M S /TITLE OF PATENT APPLICATION: - COLLAR FOR WRAPPING AND FASTENING AROUND THE NECK OF A CONTAINER FOR LIQUID
1. It is a collar to wrap and fasten around the neck of a container for liquid such as a bottle.
2. en fastened it has at least one radially, outwardly extending lip.
3. It is fastened manually by any means such as press studs,clips,Velcro or other adhesives or tied with ribbon or other suitable material, which may be threaded through the embodiment or attached by other means.
4. It is made from absorbent or non absorbent material and may be lined with absorbent material.
5. It is made from disposable or non disposable material.
6. It is simple, practical and inexpensive.
7. It is made from any paper,textile or plastic material of any colour.
8. It collects drips when liquid is toured fron the container.
9. It does not fall off when the container is tilted to pour the liquid.
10. It is plain or ribboned,labelled,embossed, printed or decorated for identification or enhancement.
