Abstract

A one piece dental floss holder has a stud 6 around which the floss 12 can be secured so that it spans an arcuate end of the holder under tension. A spool of floss may be mounted in the handle of the holder at 3. The holder may have at its end remote from the arcuate end a connected cutter and measure for the floss. The shape and design of the holder allow for maximum clearance, leverage, manoeuvrability, dexterity, comfort and clearance in and around the oral cavity. Of smooth hygienic material, it has no corrosive parts, or concealed areas for germs, or abrasive sharp areas or surfaces. It can be safely used by people of all ages, and with thread or floss of any known international brand. <IMAGE>

Description

g ORIGINAL INr TC0THC0tiB Technical field.
This invention relates to a domestic Fine Toothcomb.
A cleaning device for dental care. A Dentai-floss holder and dispenser. Trade Mark: The Original Fine Toothcomb. Also marketed as Fastfloss.
Background: Dental-floss, now widely used world-wide, and recommended by all dentists to assist in removing such as: plaque, tartar, bacteria, food particles, odontolithiasis, which cannot be removed by a common toothbrush.
To date, by far the most common method used for such cleaning, is to apply a vague length of thread-dental floss - which ends are gripped, stretched, and held between the hands, with some difficulty. A method which is very difficult to carry out and manipulate between all the teeth, and around the mouth or oral cavity. And clearly unsatisfactory for either ancouraging or accompli- shing a thorough cleaning. A method which largely depends on the users dexterity and patience- as with the general layout of the teeth.
Up to the date of this filing research evidences that a suitable stisfactory alternative method has yet to be designed and found to overcome all the relevant problems- which this invention sets out to do.
Essential technical features: This invention The Fine Toothcomb, Figs: 1,2,3,4,5.
corrprises a single piece designer moulded hand-held device, extending into a Claw,9. The shape and grip of the handle end,11 enables maximum grip, leverage, dexterity when inserting into the mouth or oral cavity the Claw end 8, ,1C,11,12. A thread of dental floss is fastened and tensioned from either the spool of floss held in 3, by two supporting lugs 4 and 5, by leading it through and around 6,8,11,70,7,6.
As seen on Fig.3 and Fig 4. The exposed floes used for cleaning depicted by dotted line 12. The non exposed minute metal cutter 2, being so concealed as to be only reachable by the fine floss- which may be cut to length by measuring from the Stud 6, to the cutter 2. The Twin Toothcomb: Fig.2 and Fig,4. contains the cutter 2. The Twin Toothcomb Fig * and 3, contains the area 3,4,5, for the spool of floss thread. In all other respects they are identical.
A thread of dental floss is fastened and tensioned around Stud 6, and measured along to cutter 2, for correct length1 which when cut off, is then wound round and guided along the locating grooves 8,,1,10,7 and then around Stud 6. It is then ready for use. There thus no loose thread, no axial holes, no unexposec areas. Connecting the thread is one ,fast anti ciockwise movement. To remove thread once used, the loose free end which has been wound around the base of Stdd 6, is simply unwound and disposed of and a fresh length replaced.
The device is specifically designed with all smooth rounded edges to avoid any abraisiveness or damage to the oral cavity or hand, using internationally accepted hygenic dental materials.
The device is non-corrosive. The device is rinsable, washable and self drying with no concealed germ collecting areas.
The length of the exposed area of floss thread 12, and its distance from the arch of 9, the curved Claw, designed to enable maximum clearance and leverage when the thread is under tension when in use - the Claw section 9, designed in different sizes.
Figure 1 shows left perspective view of the main body of the fine Toothcomb.
Figure 2 shows reverse side of the same area.
Figure 3 shows a full perspective view of the Fine Toothcomb containing an area in the handle 3.4.5. for thread or floss spool to be contained.
Figure 4 shows the Toothcob, without area for thread, with the cutter 2, located at the end of the handle Figure 5 shows overhead -top- perspective view. Depicting width perspective to overall.
Example: A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of reference to the accompanying drawings in which the above Figures are incorporated.
