Abstract

A fastening designed to hold sheets of flexible material (polythene, canvas, nylon) comprises a wedge shaped base, a wedge shaped block with a nick to receive a rubber ring and a hole to attach a rope or string for making fast. The base and top are separated by sliding after removing the ring and the material is then jammed between them. Several such fastenings will hold the material over an item as a cover or in the form of a tent, shelter, wind break. <IMAGE>

Description

COVER CLIP/POLY WEDGE The above item is a clip which has been designed to hold sheets of flexible material such as polythene, canvas or nylon.
The clip takes the place of an 'eyelet' and once fastened to the sheet of material can have a rope attached to it which is pegged into the ground.
Several of these clips attached to the sheet of material will hold the material either over an item as a cover, or in the form of a tent, shelter or wind break.
Unlike an 'eyelet' the clip can be moved on or off the material without damaging the material. This facility to 'move' means that the clips can be placed anywhere on the material in order to hold the material in different positions.
The clip itself consists of three parts: 1) A base (wedge shaped).
2) A top block (wedge shaped with a 'nick' in the base and a hole to attach rope or string to).
3) Thick rubber ring - (to be slipped over the 'nick' in the top block to prevent the two parts from seperating).
In order to use the clip the base and the top are seperated by sliding the two pieces apart after removing the rubber ring.
The material is then placed between the 'base' and the 'top block' and the two parts are 'slipped' together jamming the material between the two parts.
A rope can then be passed through the hole in the top block to a peg in the ground and the material is then 'made fast' or held in whatever position is required.
To dismantle the clip from the material the reverse procedure is applied.
The rubber ring can be applied to the clip while the clip is on the material, this prevents the two parts from seperating and thus coming off the material if it is wished to keep the clip in position during transit (while moving the cover material to a new location).

Claims (4)
