Abstract

An equipment localiser for couches plinths beds for example comprising a cavity (1) in the board (6) beneath the mattress or filling (5) located into which is equipment (2) to give localised treatment to a patient sitting lying or resting any part of his body immediately over it. The equipment (2) can be fixed to the board (6) by spring (3) attached to the equipment at their one end and to a bracket (4) or a rail or runners (4) at their other end and fitted with wheels or rollers or slides for easy movement across or along the base of the couche plinth bed or stool for example the equipment in the cavity being held under the plinth couch bed or stool etc by springs (3) or by flexible or rigid strips fixed to the underside of the plinth. Axles may be fixed to hold the wheels or rollers. It can be moved manually or by power means for example electricity. It can be adjusted vertically. <IMAGE>

Description

EQUIPMENT LOCALISER FOR CONCHES, PLINTHS, BEDS & STOOLS This invention relates to couches plinths beds stools or chairs in which the area on which the user lies o sits or rests any part of his body comprises a board or other surface over which is placed padding or a mattress or bolster or on which is fixed a mattress or padding material.
Proposals have been made in which the hoard or other surface is one or more flat or configurated pieces of material and which may incorporate mechanisma for adjustments to the couch pli@@th bed or chair.
According to the invention J propose a couch plinth bed chair or stool in which a cavity is made in the board or other surface through which a piece of equipment for example a vibretor may be located for the purpose of for example pedu@ing pain or stress or for healing such treatment to pass to the patient or user in a localised position through the mattress or padding beneath him.
The type of vibrator for example that could be used may be the one made to my Patent Number 1 320 891 in which springs are attached to the vibrator at their one end and to fixing points on the coucl plinth bed chair or stool at their other end, or it may be fixed in another way for example by rigid strips fixed to the vibrator at their one end and to the couch plinth bed chair or stool at their other end. Or it may be fixed to a single strip or spring or held in position by screws or by a strip or strips of resilient or non-resilient material for example.
In one form of the invention the ends of the springs or strips furthest from the vibrator or other equipment may be fixed to runners or rails or slides fixed to or being part of the underside or fixed to the to or sides or end of the couch plinth bed chair or stool but positioned underneath to enable the vibrator or other equipment to be easily moved along a rectangular or otherwise shaped cavity of any pre-determined lenth along or across the underside of the couch plinth bed chair or stool to suit the required treatment area of the user o patient. The equipment may be made in such P way ns to enable it to be moved mechanically or electrically or by other means for example by > as or air or hydraulics.
Alternatively the equipment may compribe a box with a flange or strips or strip'of' material fixed to the equipment or its casing and on to which is fitted a roller wheel or slide or rollers wheels or slides for easy movement of the equipment along the underside of the couch plinth or bed chair or stool. It may be positioned to prevent it from falling either ly additional rigid or flexible strips or strip over the strips of rigid material fixed to the equipment and protruding from a side or sides of the equipment or by flexible strips of material positioned over the rigid strips of material fixed to the equipment or over the equipment housing itself or the wheels or rollers may be encased in runners or guides fixed to the underside of the couch plinth bed chair or stool and may be fixed to an axle or axles attached to the equipment or its housing. The equipment may be vertically adjusted.
The rollers or wheels may be partly encased in runners or guides fixed to be being part o the slides or underside of the couch plinth bed chair or stool. The runners cr guides which totally encase the wheels or wheel or rollers or roller may be fixed to sides or top of the couch plinth bed chair ot stool, as may thoses guides or ruimers that partly enclose the wheel or wheels or rollers cur roller.
equipment fitted with slides or a slide the said slidesor slide may be fitted into guides or runners placed on any surface of the couch plinth bed chair or stool.
According to the invention the device will now be illustrated in drawings by way of example only in which : Fig 1 is a base of a couch in which a square cavity has been incorporated. Side view.
Fig 2 is a base of a couch (Underside view) in which a rectangular hole is made to enable the movement of a vibrator or other equipment along slides fitied te the underside of the couch Fig 3 Underside view of a piece of equipment oit to which rollers or wheels have boeii fitted.
Fig 4 is a blown up view ( end view) of a roller fitted to the strip of material attached at its other end to the vibrator or other equipment and on to which is fitted The roller or a wheel encased by a guide fixed to the underside of the conch plinth bed or chair.
With reference to Fgure 1 a vibrator 2 is located in cavity 1 and fixed by springs 3 to brackets 4 Filling in couch 5 Board of couch 6 Figure 2 is a couch base in which a rectangular hole has been incorproated 1 to enable the movement of a vibrator 2 along slided 4 fitted to the underside of the couch 6@@re springs by which the vibrator may be fixed over the slides. Arrows 11 indicate direction of adjustment or positioning of the vibrator.
In Figure 3 the vibrator or other equipment 2 is fitted to strips of rigid material 8 and at the other end of the strips are fitted rollers or wheels 7. The guides 4 prevent the equipment from falling and restriet the length of travel of the equipment along he underside of the board 6 in the cavity 1 The dotted line 8a illustrates how the rigid fixing strip can comprise an axle fitted to the equipment with a wheel at each end for easy movement of the equipment along the cavity 1 In Figure 4 there is an exploded view of the roller or wheel 7 encased by and kept in position by one of the guides 9 fixed to the underside of the couche by serews 10 located in holes along a flat extruded part of the guide (end view)
