Abstract

The shade comprises a plurality of sections 10 pivotally connected at 13 so that it may be folded or unfolded to the inoperative or operative position. The outer ends of each blade are connected together by a fabric tape 14 and the shade is attached to a windscreen shield by a suction cup. <IMAGE>

Description

AUTO WINDSHIELD SUN SHADE This invention relates to an Automobile Windshield Sun Shade.
Automobiles are a common item in most countries today. Although the make, model, size and shape may differ, there is one feature common to all, an expanse of glass, a Windshield.
As with the vehicles, Windshields too vary in size, but they all create a tremendous build-up of heat when the vehicle is parked in the open on a sunny day. The vehicle interior is subjected to damage, the driver and passengers to great discomfort created by intense sun and heat.
Other shades have been examined but to date all appear to have some drawback including inconvenience.
The shade described herein is convenient, quiet and non obstructive.
Assemblage is a simple task, no tools are required. Only a few simple motions are required to attach, remove and clean.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows the opened left section of the shade with anchor blade and case; Figure 2 shows opened right section of shade with slightly longer anchor blade; Figure 3 shows closed left shade, anchor blade and case; Figure 4 shows closed right shade with anchor blade.
Figure 5 illustrates shades opened and closed, mounted on inside of windshield.
The shade described herein consists of two fan shaped sections 10 and 12. Each is of a light weight aluminium material with bakedon colouring.
Each section consists of twenty-six blades, 5m in width, joined at the bottom end by a pivotal bolt 13 with washers front and back and either a compressed end or a nut.
The topends are held together by a fabric type tape 14 woven through perforations in each blade.
Attached to the pivot bolt 13 of each section is a slotted fixing bracket 15.
Each section has an anchor blade. The left section anchor blade 16 has a case 17 formed along its right side. The right section has a longer anchor blade 18 which slides into the case of the left anchor blade 16.
A suction cup 19 is inserted into the slotted top end of the fixing bracket 15 of the section.
The left section of the shade is attached by the suction cup to the inside of the windshield lower left centre. See Figure 5.
The right section anchor blade 18 is inserted into the case 17 of the left anchor blade 18. It is then attached to the inside lower right centre of the windshield by means of the suction cup 19. See Figure 5.
Each section is then flipped open, left, anti-clockwise, right clockwise, each to form a fan shaped shade. Figure 5.

Claims (2)

  1. l A construction feature of this sun shade would allow, with slight modification in the blade length,it to be manufactured in sizes suitable for automobiles of almost any make or model.
  2. 2 The compact folding feature of the shade is designed to avoid any obstruction of the view while driving and yet be readily accessible for instant use when the vehicle is parked.
