Magnetic separators.-In a process for magnetic separation by multiple roller or drum separators the material is successively fed to a plurality of magnetic fields or zones, the magnetic material drawn out at one or more points of separation being fed to one or more fields for repeated treatment and the non-magnetic material removed or subsequently treated by the next field or fields. The material from the hopper 1 passes on to a feed table 2 which may be oscillated and adjustably inclined. The magnetic material separated at the point A is carried upwards by the drum 5, is loosened by the guide 6 and removed in any suitable manner, being delivered on to a table 7 and delivered to the next separating point B, and so on, the magnetic material finally separated being carried away by a table 9. The non-magnetic material may be fed by the table 2 to the point B and removed at 10 or may be removed between the points A and B. In a modification, the magnetic material may be removed from the first drum and the residue passed along the table 2 for further treatment and the remaining material treated as before.
