Abstract

229,853. Nebrich, C. Feb. 19, 1924. Pulp, preparation of; pulping engines. - In the production of paper pulp, wood in the form of pieces, broken up by boiling and t'he like chemically, is mixed with the requisite amount of filling material, and at the same time reduced or ground to final pulp in the same apparatus. A grindstone 1 is used working in a grinding jacket 4 having a wedge-shaped clearance 5. The material is fed to the grinder by a conveyer and worm compressor 7 which may be fixed on the shaft 2 or it may have a separate drive. The stone 1 may be adjusted to its jacket 4 and provided with a pressure regulator 17. The materials may be fed from several containers 8 by feed plungers 10 the stroke of which is adjustable. The finished pulp flows out by a conduit 18 to a sand trap and thence t'o the machine. Disintegrated unboiled wood may be treated. The jacket 4 may be rotated in opposite direction to the grinding stone 1, a number of grinding mills may be arranged tandem fashion, and these mills may be used for treating straw, reeds, grass, and the like.
