Abstract

There are many occasions when it is desirable or necessary to mark a surface with a marking instrument when little or no light is present. By combining a marking instrument and light, this invention enables such marking to be carried out using one hand only. An example of the usage of the invention is 'writing in the dark'. A specific embodiment of the invention is given by way of an example in the figure. The illumination and writing are coordinated - the light follows the writing and vice versa. <IMAGE>

Description

Combined Marking Instrument & Light This invention relates to a marking instrument with which is incorporated a light such that the immediate surrounding area of marking contact with any surface can be illuminated, the combination of marking instrument and the illuminative source being so arranged that marking can be carried out using one hand without any light being present other than that emanating from the combined marking instrument and light.
An example is given below of the usage of the invention. There are many occasions when it is necessary or desirable to write 'in the dark', that is when there is little or no light. In such circumstances a torch, for example, can provide illumination. But a torch must usually be held in one hand and a pen, or other writing instrument, in the other hand and it is often not easy to focus the light or coordinate the illumination and the writing (for example, reading and recording a meter in a confined space).
In this invention the illumination and writing are coordinated the light follows the writing and vice versa.
A specific embodiment of the invention is given by way of an example in the Figure on the attached sheet.

Claims (1)

1. A combined marking instrument and light such that the immediate surrounding area of marking contact with any surface can be illuminated, the combination of marking instrument and illuminative source being so arranged that marking can be carried out using one hand without any light being present other than that emanating from the combined marking instrument and light.
