Abstract

A portable device 5, eg a pager, is used to indicate that a security system has been triggered and is activated by air-borne signals which are transmitted by an activator unit, embedded within the security system. <IMAGE>

Description

REMOTE SECURITY-ALARM SYSTEM This invention relates to a personal indicator of the state of security of any building, vehicle or other protected entity.
The invention is intended to be used as a remote indication that a state of alarm has been reached by, for example, an intruder triggered device or a smoke detector.
The invention consists of two units. The first unit is a portable indicator which is triggered by an air-borne signal. The second unit is the provider of this signal and is referred to as the activator.
An example of the invention will now be described with the aid of the accompanying diagram in which:1...Refers to a battery based power unit including related c~-cuit uc. ao rick @trickle charger and protection circuits. This makes the unit atomic in operation and therefore tamper-proof once triggered.
2...Refers to a customised radio-telephone unit which has one or more preset dialling combinations. When triggered, this simply dials the designated radio-pager number.
3...Refers to a trigger interface. This is connected to the triggering device, such as a series-connected network of intruder devices, and latches-on when initially triggered.
4...Refers to the case . This encapsulates components 1 to 3, making the unit secure and tamper-proof and should incorporate any form of assembly and mounting technique which provides this feature.
5...Refers to a radio-pager, which may have several channels such as House Fire, House Intruder, Vehicle Intruder, System Failure and System Test.

Claims (5)

  1. REMOTE SECURITY-ALARM SYSTEM
    CLAIMS:- 1...A remote means of indicating the state of a security system which relies on air-borne signals for operation.
  2. 2...An alarm system which incorporates an activation unit to provide the air-borne signal, directly or indirectly, for the remote indicator of claim 1.
  3. 3...An activation unit as claimed in claim 2 which uses one or more telephone channels (either air-borne or hard-wired).
  4. 4...An activation unit as claimed in claim 2 or claim 3 which is an atomic unit, providing secure housing for the necessary components and circuitry to enable independent operation once triggered.
  5. 5...A remote indicator as claimed in claim 1 which makes use of a tele-communication paging network.
