Abstract

A pressure washer suitable for use with a motor vehicle comprises a storage tank 1 for cleaning fluid or water and enclosed by a case defined by an upper case 2, a lower case 3 and a pivotally mounted side cover 33. The storage tank, upper and lower cases respectively have one side which includes recesses to receiving a power unit 51, a tube 52, a sucker 54 and, a spray head 53. Mounting 4 is provided for removably attaching the case to a cards bodywork. The power unit has a pump 51 which includes an inlet pipe 511 connecting to an outlet hole 151 of the storage tank, and outlet pipe 512 attaching to one end of the tube, and electric wires respectively connecting to an on/off switch 513 and the battery system of a motor vehicle. The tube has the other end connecting to the spray head. <IMAGE>

Description

TITLE OF TIIIS INVENTION CLEANING DEVICE EQUIPPED WITH MOTOR VEIIICLES The present invention relates to a cleaning device, more particularly to a self-contained cleaning device which is operable hands-free, for cleaning ##o-L-or vehicles.

The self-contained cleaning device of this invention iueets the needs of a user who needs a cleaning apparatus that can contain water when running water may not be available and deliver the water in a spray without an external power supply, which may also not be at hand.

The self-contained cleaning device of this invention meets these needs by providing an apparatus with its own storage tank for cleaning fluids and a battery operated motor and pump which can deliver a forceful spray through a nozzle.

The basic structure of the instant invention is previously discussed in applicant's patent specification, U.S. Patent 5,100,058, somehow its improvement which is worked out in his diligence is disclosed hereinafter.

SUMMARY OF THIS INVENTION The self-contained cleaning device equipped for cleaning vehicles has a first objective to provide a cleaning device that stores its own cleaning fluid and needs no external power supply. The self-contained cleaning device equipped for cleaning motor vehicles has a second objective to provide modulized components and fixtures which facilitate portablity alld sturdier connection to a car body.

The self-d6ntained cleaning device equipped for cleaning vehicles comprises a storage tank which is filled with cleaning fluid or water and enclosed by a case defined by an upper case, a lower case and a side cover.

The storage tank, upper and lower cases respectively have one side which include recesses to receiving a power unit, a tube, a sucker, a spray head. A case seat is provided for removably attaching the case to the car body. The power unit has a pump which includes an inlet pipe connecting to an outlet hole of the storage tank, an outlet pipe attaching to one end of the tube,- and electric wires respectively connecting to an on/off switch and the battery system of motor vehicles. The tube has the other end connecting to the spray head. When turning on the on/off switch, current from the battery system activates the pump to emit the cleaning fluid or water through the nozzles of the spray head.

The invention is hereinafter described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Fig. 1 is a perspectively fragmentary view of the preferred embodiment of the present invention Fig. 2 is a cut-away view of the assembly of the preferred embodiment of Fig. 1; Fig. 3 is a diagram showing the operation of the preferred embodiment of the present invention.

Referring to Figs. 1 and 2, the self-contained cleaning device equipped for cleaning motor vehicles comprises a storage tank 1, a handle 13, an upper case 2, a lower case 3, a side cover 33, a case seat 4 and a power unit 5.

The storage tank 1 comprises a top surface, from which a handle block 10 slightly projects upwards to have a mouth 11.

Mouth 11 which water is poured through is closed by a washer lla and a cap llb. Below the mouth 11, handle recesses 12 are formed on the respective sides of the handle block 10, in which a handle 13 is firmly fitted. The storage tank 1 has a guiding recess 14 formed on its side wall. A power unit recess 15 formed on the lower portion of the guiding recess 14 has an outlet hole 151.

The upper case 2 comprises a plurality of male fastners 21, a spray head recess 22 which includes two attaching flanges 221 and a retaining shelf 222, a hole 23 and a handle groove 24 for mouth 11 and handle 13 respectively passing therethrough.

The shape of the upper case 2 conforms to the upper portion of the storage tank 1. The attaching flanges 221 project from the respective vertical walls of the spray head recess 22 to curve to connect to the retaining shelf 222, on which a switch hole 222a is formed.

Respectively corresponding to the upper case 2, the lower case 3 includes a plurality of female fastners 31 for rigidly coupling to male fastners 21, and two arc shape receiving slots 32 for receiving the attaching flanges 221. The shape of the lower case 3 conforms to the lower portion of the storage tank 1. The arc shape receiving slots 32 has pivoting holes 321 for pivotally connecting to the side cover 33. Correspondingly conforming to the arc shape receiving slots 32, the side cover 33 has pivoting pins 331 for permitting their insertion to the pivoting holes 321 to enable a pivoting movement of the side cover 33. The side cover 33, and the upper and lower cases 2, 3 are provided for defining a closed casing for enclosing the storage tank 1 therin.Two elongated connecting flanges 34 (not shown in Fig. 1) are formed on the bottom of the lower case 3.

The case seat 4 has four holes 41 for screws to pass through to be firmly secure to the car body in this preferred embodiment. Surely the fastening elements can be changed by disposing the hook and loop fasteners on the bottom of the case seat 4 and the car body. Respective to the connecting flanges 34, the seat case 4 has two flange slots 42 for the case and the storage tank 1 to be secured to the seat case 4.

The power unit 5 comprises a pump 51, an inlet pipe 511, an outlet pipe 512, an on/off switch 513, power cord 514, a tube 52, a spray head 53 and a sucker 54. The inlet pipe 511 has one end connecting to the outlet hole 151 and the other end to the pump 51. The inlet pipe 511 and pump 51 are disposed in the power unit recess 15. The outlet pipe 512 connects to the tube 52 which attaches to the spray head 53. The on/off switch 513 is disposed in the switch hole 222a. The power cord 514 has electric wires respectively connecting to the on/off switch 513 and the battery system of a motor vehicle (not shown in figures).

When not in use, the storage tank 1 is filled with water or cleaning fluid, the sucker 54 and rolled-up tube 52 are stored in the room which are confined by the lower portion of the guiding recess 14 aiid the side cover 33, the spray head rests on the retaining shelf 222. Wheti in operatioti, pull open the side cover 33, take out the spray head 53, turn on the on/off switch 513, current then flows from the battery system through the wires to drive the pump 51 to send the cleaning fluid or water out of the nozzles of the spray head 53. When a user cannot use his both hands, the sucker 54 is provided for attaching the spray head 53 to car body.

Furthermore, since the self-contained cleaning device equipped with motor vehicles removably attaches to the car body, instead of being affixed to a pre-determined position, when the steering-wheel is on the left side, it can be disposed in the right side of the boot, and vice versa.

Claims

I claim:

1) A self-contained cleaning device equipped with motor vehicles comprising a storage tank, an upper case, a lower case, a handle, a side cover, a case seat and a power unit, wherein said storage tank having a top surface, from which a handle block projects to have a mouth which water is poured into and closed by a washer and a cap; handle recesses formed on the respective side of said handle block below said mouth for said handle to be disposed; a side wall, on which a guiding recess is formed and has a lower power portion, on which a power unit recess is formed and includes an outlet hole, of which water is sent out; said upper case having its shape conforming to said storage tank, a plurality of male fasteners disposed on its bottom periphery, a spray head recess including two attaching flanges projecting from the respective vertical walls of said spray head recess to curve to connect to a retaining shelf, on which a switch hole is formed for an on/off switch to be disposed, a handle groove corresponding to said handle block for permitting said mouth and handle respectively passing therethrough;; respectively corresponding to said upper case, said lower case including a plurality of female fastners for rigidly coupling to said male fastners, and two arc shape receiving slots for receiving said attaching flanges having pivoting holes, its shape conforming to the lower portion of said storage tank; at least one elongated connecting flange formed on the bottom of the lower case, whereby correspondingly conforming to said arc shape receiving slots, said side cover has pivoting pins for permitting their insertion to said pivoting holes to enable a pivoting movement of said side cover; said side cover, said upper and lower case provided for defluitig a closed casing for enclosing said stroage tank therein; said case seat having at least one fastening element on its bottom for securing to the car body, at least one flange slot respectively connecting to said connecting Flange, whereby connected upper arid lower cases and said storage tank are secured to said seat case; said power unit comprising a pump which has an inlet pipe attaching to said outlet hole, an oulet pipe connecting to a tube and a spray head, a power cord including electric wires respectively connecting to said on/off switch and battery system of a motor vehicle. a sucker provided for attaching said spray head to car body; whereof said power unit is disposed in said power unit recess, and said sucker and tube rolled up are stored in the room which are confined by the lower portion of said guiding recess and said side cover; which is characterized in pivoting open said side cover, taking out said spray head, turning on said on/off switch to activate said pump to drive cleaning fluid or water to emit through the nozzles of said spray head.

2) A self-contained cleaning device equipped with motor vehicles according to claim 1, said fastening elements on the bottom of said lower case for securing to the car body can be screws advancing through holes which are arranged on the pre-determined positions of said lower case.

3) A self-contained cleaning device equipped with motor vehicles according to claim 1, the fastening manner of said fastening elements on the bottom of said lower case and the car body can be hook and loop fastening manner.

4) A self-contained cleaning device for motor- vehicles substantially as herein described with reference to and as illustrated in the accompanying drawings.

5) A motor vehicle whenever provided with a self-contained cleaning device as claimed in claim 1.
