Abstract
The head (1), provided with a threaded extension, is securely attached to the handle (2), which is provided with a threaded hole. A further hole (5) for venting purposes is provided in conjunction with the threaded hole of the handle, which hole (5) allows for the escape of any water trapped in the threaded hole. The head and handle are further provided with alignment means (3) which facilitate alignment of head and handle. Also disclosed is a toothbrush comprising head and handle which are readily separable from each other, the mode of fixing the head and handle together being of the push-fit type. <IMAGE>
Description
This invention relates to a tooth brush with a removable head.
Tooth burshes are used to clean human's teeth and are recommended by dentists that this cleaning process should be carried out at least twice a day preferably once in the morning and once before retiring to sleep. Dentists also recommend that the tooth brush should be changed every three months. Currently. changing tooth brushes will require throwing completely the whole unit away. The only way to replace the old unit is to buy a completely new one. This.
how@@er. is not enviromentally friendly and wasteful as the handle can still be re-used.
This invention relates to a tooth brush that allows the complete head to be removed from the handle for either to replace the head because the bristle is worn out or to change to another head but using the same handle for another b@@shing @ro@ess. This invention covers all different mo@@ode of fixing the head to the handle and three different methods are used to illustrate the invention. There are as below:
A. a screwed-on fit type Number 1.
B. a serweed-on fit type Number 2.
C. a push fit type.
Method A @ @ screwed-on type No. 1.
According to this invention. the tooth brush comprises of three m@in parts namely. a head (1). a handle (2) and a washer (4). the means of removing the head from the handle or fixin@ it to the handle. A threaded extension. for example of 10 millimeter in length and 3 millimeter in outside diameter. forme part of the head and the handle witt
a threaded hole compatible to accept the threaded extension on the head. On the handle there is a one millimeter di@meter hole at the back of the threaded hole (Fig. 4) and @@ t@@ of each side of the head handle. there is @ @@@@@e@ to a@d final alignment and adjustment. The point of @@@@@ation between the head and handle is 5 millimeter from the start of the head as shown in Fig. 1.
This invention will now be described with reference to the accompanving drawings listed below in which:
Fia. 1 shows the plan view of the tooth brush.
Fia 2 is the enlargement of the area of tl-ie invention.
@ig. 5 is the section A-A of the enlargement.
Fa. 4 is the section B-B of the enlargement.
Fia. 5 illustrates the finished product in two-off
separate pieces namely, the head (1) arid the
handle (2).
Fiq. 1 shows the plan view of the tooth brush with the pointers in alianment. Fig. 2 is the enlargement of the part highlighted in Fig. 1 to show more clearly how the head is fiy. firmly to the handle. To remove the head, simply hold on to the handle and turn the head clockwise or anti-clockwise (Fia. 5) (depending whether it is a right handed or left handed thread) or vice versa until it comes loose. To fix the head. sim@ly hold on to the handle and turn the head clockwise or anti-clockwise (depending whether it is right handed thread or left handed thread) or vice versa until it cannot go anv further. The pointers (3) at this stage will be ointinq directlv at each other as shown in Fig.2.
Thr is a clear air vent (5) positioned at the back of the threaded hole as shown in Fig. 4 and is rart of tie handle.
It extends from the middle of the threaded hole to the bottom side. This allows anv trapped water to he s@u@@zed out when the head is screwed onto the handle.
There is also a washer (4) sandwiched between the head and the handle. This is to prevent direct contact between head and the handle which is of similar material aid to provide a sealing effect.
Method B 8 . 8 screwed-on fif type No.
Accordions to this invention. the tooth brush comprises of three main parts namely. a head (1). a handle (L) and a washer (4). the means of removina the head from the handle or fixing it to the handle. A threaded extension. for example of 10 millimeter in length and 3 millimeter in outside diameter. is part of the handle and the head with a threaded hole compatible to accept the threaded extension on the handle. On the head there is a one millimeter diameter hole at the back of the threaded hole (Fig. 9) ad on top of each side of the head and handle. there is a pointer to aid final alignment and adjustment. The point of separation between the head and handle is 15 millimeter from the tart of the head as shown in Fi* 6.
This invention will now be described with reference to the accompanving drawings listed below in which:
Fig. 6 shows: the plan view of the tooth brush.
Fig. 7 is the enlargement of the area of the invention.
Fig. 8 is the section A-A of the enlargement.
Fig. 9 is the section B-B of the enlargement.
Fi. 10 illustrates the finished product in two-off separate pieces namely. the head (1) and the handle
(2).
Fig. 5 shows the plan view of the tooth brush with the pointers in alignment. Fig. 7 is the enlargement of the part highlighted in Fig. 6 to show more clearly how the head is fix firmlv to the handle. To remove the head. simply hold on to the handle and turn the head clockwise or anti-clockwise (Fi. 10) (depending whether it is a riqht handed or left handed thread) or vice versa until it comes loose. To fix the head. simply hold on to the handle and turn the head clockwise or anti-clockwise (depending whether it is right handed thread or left handed thread) or vice versa until it cannot go any further. The pointers (3) at this stage will be pointing directly at each other as shown in Fig.7.
There is a clear air vent (5) positioned at the back of the threaded hole as shown in Fig. 9 and is part of the head. It extends from the middle of the threaded hole to the bottom side. This allows anv trapped water to he squeezed out when the head is screwed onto the handle.
There is also a washer (4) sandwiched between the head and the handle. This is to prevent direct contact between head and the handle which is of similar material and to provide a sealing effect.
Method C ... a push fit tyre.
According to this invention. the tooth brush comprises of two main parts namelv a head (1) and handle (2) and the means of fixing or removing the head and the handle.
The invention will now be described with reference t@ accompanying drawings listed below.
Fia. 11 shows the plan view of the tooth brush.
Fig. 12 shows the two main sections of the tooth brush.
Fig. 12 shows the enlargement of the head attachment.
Fig. 14 shows the enlargement of the handle adaptation to the head.
Fig. 15 shows the view from Y.
Fig. 16 shows the view from 2.
Referring to the drawing (Fig. 11 to 16). the tooth brush comprises of two separable parts. a head and @ @@@dle.
In order to remove the head from the handle. simply hold both fi@mly and pull them spart @refer to Fig. 12, To fix the head. the action is reversed ie. hold the head and the handle firmly and push them todether until they are securely fixed (refer to Fig. 12).
