Abstract

In a window friction stay a slider (22) in a track (10) mounts one end of a latching strip (48) which also locates in the track (10) with side shoulders underlying retaining walls (12) of the track (10). The strip (48) is biassed outwardly of the track and at one end has the shoulders profiled, the walls (12) having cut-outs (78), whereby when the end of the strip (48) with the profiled shoulders locates below the cut-outs (78), the end of the strip (48) moves upwardly through the cut-outs (78) into latching engagement with the walls (12). This limits the angular extent of opening of the window. Further opening of the window can be achieved by the user pressing on the strip end to move the latter back into the track (10).
