Abstract
Salts of uranium, manganese, iron or nickel, either alone or mixed, and in a dry or wet condition, preferably in solution, are exposed to the action of solar or ultra-violet rays, and the irradiated salts or solutions are subsequently used for producing photocatalytic reactions in liquids, such as solutions of sugar or formalin, or for activating or sterilizing ferments, such as yeast.
