Abstract
226,430. Poujols, J. Jan. 2, 1924, [Convention date]. Stays.-The hinged lid 2 of a show case or other article is held in an adjusted position by a pivoted strut 8, the lower end of which has a pin 10 engaging a ratchet-bar 5 pivoted at one end about a pin 6, the parts being so .arranged that to close the lid it is first raised until the pin 10 clears the last tooth of the bar, and thereafter moves under the bar as the lid is lowered into the closed position. The bar 5 is pivotally mounted in a box-like casing 4 slotted at its upper side to allow the. bar to move freely during the opening and closing movement of the lid. When the. lid is closed, the bar takes up the position 8<1> so that when the lid is again opened, the pin 10 travels up the inclined face 12 of the member 5 for engagement with the ratchet teeth.
