Abstract
226,365. Gaskell, W. H., and Holliday, A. F. Dec. 15, 1923. Wireless tuning-apparatus, adjustment devices for.-The shaft carrying the movable elements of a variable condenser, variometer, or the like is insulated from its operating spindle, all metallic elements lying between the insulating member and the handle of the operating spindle being earthed. As shown, the shaft 10 carrying the movable vanes 8 of a variable condenser is supported in an insulating member 17, which carries on its opposite side a spindle 18 on which is mounted a gear wheel 15 meshing with a smaller wheel 14 on the operating spindle 12. The spindles 18 and 12 are connected together by a strip of copper 21 having a turned-over portion 22 to which an earth wire mav be connected. An adjustable me:al plate 23 is mounted on the front of the panel 24 and metallically connected with the spindle 12 to avoid the effect of hand capacity, the plate 23 being provided with a mark cooperating with the scale 16 on the spindle 12. The ratio of the gearing 14, 15 is such that a complete revolution of the spindle 12 and scale 16 rotates the movable plates through 180‹.
