Abstract

A key alarm has a plastic casing 1 which contains an alarm system. Once key has been placed into position using clip 4, key is inserted into lock. A push-in button 2 comes into contact with the outside surface of the lock, causing it to retract and activate the alarm system, and then speaker 3 amplifies the sound of the alarm. The key holder 5 is to secure the key alarm on to a key ring. <IMAGE>

Description

The present invention relates to an apparatus for checking that keys are not left in the lock.

The opening of a front or back door of a house or desk drawer, filing cabinet etc involves various keys. It can be some time before the user realises that the key has been left in the lock which could lead to unauthorised persons obtaining use of the keys. The present invention seeks to provide an apparatus for the sounding of an alarm which is easy to use and will remind the user that the key has been left in the lock.

According to the present invention, there is provided an apparatus for sounding an alarm, comprising a plastic casing containing alarm system, push-in button, a speaker and a clip for enclosing the key said alarm will be activated when key has been inserted into the lock by the push-in button retracting when coming into contact with the outside surface.

Preferably the casing includes an alarm system, a push-in button preferably a speaker, preferably the casing has a clip to allow key(s) to be exchanged and to hold key in position.

The invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows a side elevation of the apparatus according to the invention. Referring to Figure 1 there is shown the apparatus 1 casing formed from plastic material containing alarm system inside (not shown), push-in button 2, speaker 3, attached to the apparatus is clip 4 and 5 key ring holder.

In use of the invention, the user places key in clip 4, then inserts key into lock. Whilst the key is being inserted the push-in button 2 comes into contact with the outside surface which activates the alarm system (not shown) which is heard through speaker 3. Alarm will continue until key is removedeonce removed from the lock push-in button 2 disconnects the alarm by returning to original position.

Further modifications will be apparent to those skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the present invention.

Claims

1. A key alarm comprising a plastic casing containing alarm system, which is activated when push in button comes into contact with the outside surface of the lock, a speaker which will amplify the sound of the alarm, a clip for enclosing the key(s) and a key ring holder to attach to the key ring.

2. A key alarm as claimed in Claim 1 wherein plastic casing is provided containing an alarm system.

3. A key alarm as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2 wherein a push in button is provided to retract when coming into the outside contact of the lock which will activate the alarm system.

4. A key alarm as claimed in Claim 2 or Claim 3 wherein a speaker is provided to amplify the sound of the alarm.

5. A key alarm as claimed in Claim 4 wherein a clip is provided to open and close in order to insert the key head to hold key(s) in place.

6. A key alarm as claimed in any preceding claim wherein a key ring holder is provided in order to attach key alarm to key ring.
