Abstract

Crank chambers.- In two-stroke-cycle engines employing crank-case compression, leakage is prevented by providing three or more annular ridges, Fig. 1, on the crank - shaft, these ridges engaging in grooves in the bearing, and an intermediate ridge having a diametrical duct 7 through which oil may be caused to circulate by an engine - driven pump. Oil distribution may be also promoted by the formation of a transverse groove in the bearing surface. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) interengaging grooves and ridges 5, 6, Fig. 1 (Cancelled), are formed on the crank-shaft 2 and in the inner surface of the bearing 1. The grooves and ridges may be in groups separated by a helical groove 7 and annular grooves 8 through which lubricating oil circulates. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
