Description

HANGER FIELD OF INVENTION The present invention relates to hangers.
More particularly, the invention relates to hangers for suspension of garments.
SUMMARY OF INVENTION According to the invention, a hanger for suspending garments, in particular briefs, includes a first elongated suspension member; a second elongated suspension member spaced apart from the first elongated suspension member and being connected thereto; suspension means for suspending the hanger from a support member such as a bar; and a number of spaced apart projecting attachment elements projecting from the first elongated suspension member to the one side thereof, which side is opposite to the suspension means.
The second elongated suspension member also may be pointed in the form of a number of arms projecting from one side of a connecting member, which is joined to the first elongated suspension member.
The suspension means may be in the form of a hook.
The first and second elongated suspension members may be substantially parallel.
The first elongated suspension member may be attached centrally to the suspension means.
The second elongated suspension member may be provided in the form of two centrally projecting arms projecting from opposite sides centrally.and being connected at their outside ends to the first elongated suspension member. Alternatively, the second suspension member may include one elongated arm attached at one end to the first elongated suspension arm and being located such that the first elongated suspension member is positioned between the second elongated suspension member and the suspension means.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS The invention will now now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying schematic drawings.
In the drawings there is shown in Figure 1 a front view of a first embodiment of a hanger in accordance with the invention; Figure 2 a front view of a second embodiment of a hanger in accordance with the invention; Figure 3 a front view of a third embodiment of a hanger in accordance with the invention; Figure 4 a front view of a fourth embodiment of a hanger in accordance with the invention; and Figure 5 a front view of a fifth embodiment of a hanger in accordance with the invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS Referring to Figure 1, the hanger 10 includes a suspension means in the form of a hook 12 which is joined by means of a bridge member 14 to an elongated first suspension member 16. From the ends of the first suspension member 16 connecting elements 18.1 and 18.2 extend to carry the second elongated suspension member generally indicated by reference numeral 20 and including a first arm 20.1 and a second arm 20.2.
The arms 20.1 and 20.2 are substantially parallel to the elongated suspension member 16.
From the elongated suspension member 16 engagement projections 22 project downwardly. At the end end projections 24.1 and 24.2 also project downwardly. From the ends of the arms 20.1 and 20.2 further projection members 26.1 and 26.2 project downwardly and at the ends hooks 28.1 and 28.2 are provided as indicated.
The hanger 10 is intended for supporting briefs, which are fitted as follows: The briefs are folded flat and one side of its open upper (wide) end is hooked over one of the projections 22 (or 24.1 or 24.2 or 26.1 or 26.2). Thereafter the brief is extended across the other projection elements to the other side of the hook 32, is folded over the projection member 26.1 (or 26.2) at this end, is pulled back towards the first hooked over end and then the other side of its open upper (wide) end is engaged with another of the projections 22 (or 24.1 or 24.2 or 26.1 or 26.2). The bottom or crotch end of the brief now hangs down and is inserted from the leg openings of the brief over the arms 20.1 and 20.2 respectively so as to provide a neat pack by enclosing the hanger from behind.
Referring to Figure 2 the hanger 30 includes a suspension member in the form of a hook 32 which joins directly onto the first elongated member 34. From the elongated member 34 projections 36 extend downwardly.
Also from the one end of the elongated member 34 a bridge member 38 extends and carries at its free end the second elongated member in the form of an arm 40, which is substantially parallel to the member 34.
At the ends of the elongated member 34 projections 42.1 and 42.2 are provided. Their outer faces are grooved as indicated by reference numerals 44.1 and 44.2.
In this case a brief also is folded flat and its upper open end is attached as has been described with reference to Figure 1. Thereafter the bottom or crotch end is inserted from one of the leg openings of the brief over the arm 40 so as to provide a neat pack.
The hanger, generally indicated by reference numeral 46 in Figure 3 is very similar to the hanger 10 of Figure 1. It includes a hook 48, a bridge member 50, a first suspension member 52, connecting elements 54.1 and 54.2, a first arm 56.1 and a second arm 56.2, engagement elements 58, end projections 60.1, 60.2, and further projections 62.1, and 62.2.
As mentioned above the hanger 46 is substantially similar to the hanger 10 illustrated in Figure 1, but in this case, the end vertical edges of the further projections 62.1 and 62.2 are provided with grooves or cutouts 64.1 and 64.2 respectively. These assist in keeping a folded brief in position.
The hanger 46,is also used for suspending briefs and the folding procedure is as described above with reference to Figure 1.
Referring to Figure 4, the hanger 66 has, in its upper part, substantially the same appearance as the hanger 30 of Figure 2. Regarding these parts the hanger 66 includes a hook 68, an elongated member 70 provided with engagement projections 72, an end projection 74 and further projections 76.1, 76.2 with cutouts or grooves 78.1, 78.2. It additionally has, in place of the second elongated member or arm 40 of the hanger 30 of Figure 2, a suspension part generally indicated by reference numeral 80 and connected by means of connecting member 82 to the arm 70.
The suspension part 80 has an upper arm 83 and a bottom formation with two arms 84.1, 84.2 directed to each other and with a gap 86 between them and a curved gaps 88.1, 88.2 between the arms 84.1, 84.2 and the plate part 90. The plate part 90 has an aperture 92.
In this case a brief is folded and the upper part is fitted as described with reference to Figure 1.
However, the crotch part is passed through the apertures 88.1 and 88.2 so as to display the front part of the garment and then the crotch part is folded and pushed through the aperture 92 to be retained there.
Referring now to Figure 5 the hanger 94 is similar in its upper part to the hanger 66 of Figure 4. Therefore the same reference numerals are provided to refer to identical items in the upper part. However, the second elongated member or suspension part, generally indicated by reference 96, includes four arms 98, 100, 102 and 104 which are substantially parallel. The first arm 98 has an end hook 106, the second arm 100 an end hook 108, the third arm 102 an end hook 110, and the fourth arm 104 an end hook 112. Below the fourth arm 104 two arms 114.1 and 114.2 are provided directed to each other with a gap 116 between them and gaps 118.1 and 118.2 between these arms respectively and the arm 104.
The arms 98 to 104 and 114.1 and 114.2 are joined by means of a side leg 120.
In this case a brief is held by folding and attaching its upper part as described above with reference to the hanger 66 of Figure 4 but the crotch part is folded and inserted from one of the leg openings over one of the arms 98 to 102 as required to be kept in position.
The hanger in accordance with Figures 1 to 5 may be made of any suitable material, eg. being injection moulded from synthetic plastics material.
