Abstract

A device for collecting rainwater has a reservoir [4] with a moulded collar [3] an internal overflow exit pipe [6] and lower welded collar [9]. By removing the upper feed section of the existing downpipe from the moulded collar [3] the reservoir [4] can be removed from the inner overflow exit pipe [6] and welded collar [9], facilitating cleaning of main body and/or replacing of 'O' ring [8]. <IMAGE>

Description

Name Of Invention: D/P Water Conserver - Feeder Description: As the name suggests, this unit is designed to collect, and store until used, a quantity of rainwater, with the facility to add liquid fertiliser.
It is simple in construction, made of strong, indestructable P.P.L.
It is easy to install, and remove for cleaning if required.
Its construction consists of a main body or reservoir, capable of holding 4 gallons of liquid. An entrance feed from the existing Down Pipe drain slots into a moulded collar at the top. An exit overflow pipe is inserted up through the base.
An '0' ring seal ensures against leakage, and the lower portion of the overflow is slotted into the remaining base section of the Down Pipe drain. A gauze sieve sits in the top section to filter large debris such as leaves, tile flakes etc. Screwed into an outer corner of the main body is a butterfly service tap. In a front shoulder of the unit is a cupped aperture for adding liquid fertiliser.
To facilitate a capacity of 4 gallons a volume of 1153 cubic inches is required, taking in the displacement of the overflow tube.
Dimensions are as follows: Height 15" being base to overflow Width 12" Depth 7"

Claims (6)

  1. CLAIMS 1. A Downpipe Water Conserver Feeder which utilises an existing downpipe drain for its support and for the supply and surplus exit of rainwater.
  2. 2. A Downpipe Water Conserver Feeder as claimed in claim 1 having a main body or reservoir fed by an inlet section of downpipe into a moulded top section incorporating a gauze filter.
  3. 3. A Downpipe Water Conserver Feeder as claimed in claims 1 and 2 having in the top right hand shoulder of the main body a feeder-aperture with pressure stopper.
  4. 4. A Downpipe Water Conserver Feeder as claimed in claims 1, 2 and 3 incorporating inside the main body an overflow exit pipe with moulded collar inserted centrally up through the base and sealed with a rubber '0' ring thence slotted into the lower section of the existing drainpipe.
  5. 5. A Downpipe Water Conserver Feeder as claimed in claims 1,2,3 and 4 having screwed into the bottom right hand corner a butterfly drain tap with hose connection.
  6. 6. A Downpipe Water Conserver Feeder as substantially described herein with reference to figs. 1 and 2 of the accompanying drawing.
