212,922. Deutsche Ton-und Steinzeug- Werke Akt.-Ges. March 12, 1923, [Convention date]. Ball and like mills.-In slow-running tube or drum mills of the kind having a plurality of grinding-bodies, loosely mounted one within another, the bodies are constructed so that their engaging surfaces are free of any projections and are comparatively smooth. The shape of the separate grinding-bodies may differ partially or entirely from the shape of the inside of the wall of the mill. Fig. 2 shows a cylindrical mill c with a hollow cylindrical grinding-body e containing a hollow cylindrical grinding-body g within which is a solid cylindrical grinding-body h. Fig. 3 shows a tube mill i with a hollow cylindrical body l containing a solid grinding-body m. Fig. 4 shows a cylindrical mill c with a hollow cylindrical grinding-body e containing a solid truncated conical grinding-body p; and Fig. 5 shows a conical mill r with a conical grinding-body s containing a conical grinding-body t. The bodies may be loaded so as to displace the centre of gravity. Elliptical grinding-bodies, which may contain other grinding- bodies, may be used. The bodies may be of iron, bronze, porcelain, stoneware, quartzite, &c.
