Statistical machines with several totalizers; printing totals.-Relates to machines for tabulating statistics preferably of the type shown in Specification 183,867 and comprises means for permitting one or more machines to be controlled from a distance. A control desk 18, Fig. 1, has a section No. 1, &c. allotted to each machine, the connections being made as shown in diagram in Fig. 2, in which the upper part separated by chain lines represents the section of the control desk. Keys 10<a>, 11<a>, 13<a> are connected up to function correspondingly to the usual keys 10, 11, and 13 of which 10 is the starting key; key 11 resets the tabulator or such counters as have been selected for resetting, and also effects total printing; and switch 12 initiates automatic resetting and total printing when closed, and when open requires manual operation of the key 11. Key 13 is the emergency stop key, and switch 14 is the automatic restarting switch. Switch 15 when closed cuts out the automatic control and allows the machine to run till the cards are exhausted, and when open automatically interrupts the operation at the end of a card group. Switches 12<a>, 14a and 15a are connected up as shown to function correspondingly to switches 12, 14 and 15. Lamps 19, 20 and 21 are provided to indicate at the desk the condition of the operation. Lamp 19 is lighted only while the tabulating motor is running; lamp 20 when the reset motor is running; and lamp 21 is in a circuit with the switch 12<a>. If the switch 12<a> is closed, i.e. in the position opposite to that shown, lamp 21 will never be lighted, this being the position for automatic resetting and total taking. If the switch 12<a> is in the position shown the lamp 21 will light up when the tabulator stops at the end of a group, warning the operator that the reset key should be depressed. If all lamps are extinguished the starting key should be operated.
