Stop-motions, measuring.-A device A, Fig. 1, for indicating and recording the number of picks inserted or yards woven &c. is used to drive a device for stopping the loom at a predetermined time, as for example after the required length has been woven &c. The device A, is of known type comprising recording discs f<2>, Figs. 1 and 2, threaded loosely on a spindle driven by worm gearing f, e, c, b from a spindle a, which is provided with a pin n engaging a slot o in a boss o<1> on a spindle p. This spindle through gearing p', p<2>, p<3>, q drives a worm wheel r loose on a shaft j of a stopping- motion substantially as described in Specification 16813/10 and comprising a stop h secured to a rotatable ring g<3>, which can be adjusted to place the stop opposite any required graduation in a dial g<2> and be then secured in position by a pinching-screw h'. By means of a key introduced through an aperture i<1> masked by a hinged cover plate i<2>, the spindle j may be rotated to set a pointer j<1> thereon against the stop h' which indicates the number of picks &c. to be woven. The rotating worm r drives the spindle j through a friction clutch so that the pointer is gradually returned to zero, at which time a tooth on a pivoted spring-controlled lever m falls into a notch in a disc k secured to the spindle and the loom is stopped.
