211,915. Thornton, A. A., (Comas Cigarette Machine Co.). Oct. 30, 1922. Coating-machines.-In machines for wrapping- up charges of cigarettes or other articles, after folding discs 193, Fig. 7, have made the top longitudinal folds, pasting rollers 194 paste the lower longitudinal projections of the wrapper. The paste is supplied from a receptacle 200, Fig 7, by rolls 198, 196, and the whole device is mounted to rock about a pivot 206 so that the action of a horizontal cam 212 on an arm 208 lifts the rollers 194 out of contact with the packets at intervals. A vertical plunger 216, Figs. 7 and 25, forces the packet vertically downwards, folding up the outstanding longitudinal edges, and tuckers 220 fold down the ends of the open end of the packet. A transverse plunger 222 moves the packet along a channel 322 and a disc 232 wipes down the upper side of the open end of the packet into the position shown in Fig. 28. A pasting roll 236 applies adhesive to the outstanding flap and a vertical plunger 230 depresses the packet on to a table, turning up the last flap. An ejector 260 thrusts the packet beween bands 262, 263, a spring-held piece 264 holding the last flap in engagement to ensure adhesion during the retraction of the ejector.
