Abstract
211,450. Ph÷nix R÷ntgenr÷hrenfabriken Akt.-Ges. Feb. 16, 1923, [Convention date]. R÷ntgen-ray tubes.-A high vacuum tube has two or more incandescent cathodes b, c, Fig. 1, regulatable independently so that the rays of each cathode may be concentrated upon areas of different size upon the anti-cathode a. The tube may be used for exact screen examination or for making photographical exposures, the cathode b being formed so that the rays directed by a focussing device k fall upon a small area, and the cathode c arranged so that the rays cover a large area of the anti-cathode. The cathodes may be supplied from separate transformers d, e, or from a single transformer provided with a switch for connecting either cathode. In the modification shown in Fig. 3 two or more spiral or helical cathodes m, n are mounted in a single focussing device o so that the rays from one cathode pass by those from the others. In another arrangement a single wire is divided into sections forming cathodes. connected independently.
