211,401. Elliott, R. C., and Lanston Monotype Corporation, Ltd. June 18, 1923. Drawings to Specification. Single-type composing and casting machines; justifying type; machines having separate mould-dimensioning devices for character types and justifying-spaces, such as that described in Specification 8633/99, the adjustment of the mould for justifying-spaces is varied in units or fractions of units of the set, so that a single record-strip may be employed to produce composition in different set-widths. In order to effect this, the justifying-wedges, instead of being calculated in fractions of an inch as heretofore, are based upon units of the set, and are exchangeable so that by the use of suitable normal and justifying wedges, lines may be cast in a set and in a measure different from, but proportional to, those for which the record-strip was composed. Specification 166,466 also is referred to.
