Abstract

Moulds; presses. - Apparatus for moulding concrete blocks comprises a box having slots i in two vertically opposite walls h wherein there are adapted to engage removable division plates, a press plate e for compressing the material, means for allowing a limited movement of the slotted walls, and guides whereby the mould can be moved from under the press for removal of the blocks. Cross-rods k having right and left hand threaded ends are screwed in internally threaded bushes k<1> on the 'sides h. The rods are rotated so that the walls h are moved towards and away from each other, before and after the material is compressed, respectively. To allow this movement, the sides h and base b are connected by bolts passing through rough holes in the base. The mould is mounted on rollers c which travel on a frame a, and the spindle c<1> of the centre rollers projects so as to register in one position with notches c<2> formed near the end of the frame. After compression of the material under the press-plate, the mould is rolled to the position in which the spindle c<1> and notches c<2> are in engagement, when the mould can be rotated through approximately 90‹ for removal of the blocks and division plates. The press-plate e is operated by a screw-threaded spindle f, which works in a boss carried by a cross-member n. Secured to the underside of the press-plate are a number of transverse bars e<1> adapted to fit between the partitions. Extensions of the partitions project beyond the side walls h, and are provided with bars forming guide grooves fitting in the slots i. The press-plate and the bottom plate are provided with ridges forming grooves in the slabs.
