Abstract
211,155. Conradi, H. Feb. 10, 1923, [Convention date]. Centrifugal machines; moulding pipes and tubes.-In the manufacture of reinforced concrete pipes and like articles of plastic material, the reinforcement is temporarily held in correct position for becoming partly embedded in the concrete by adjustable members of a core 1, after which operation the core is removed and concrete added within the partly made pipe under centrifugal motion to embed fully the reinforcement and complete the pipe. The core comprises slidable tubular members 6, 8 connected by links 5<a>, 5 respectively with longitudinal bars 1 provided with lugs 1<d> adapted to contact with the interior of the mould 2 and with recesses 1<e> to hold the reinforcing cage, which comprises spirally wound wire 3, bearing ring 3<a>, and longitudinal rods 3b, in position during the initial operation which consists in partly embedding the cage. The bars 1 are then withdrawn from the reinforcing cage by means of a rotatable nut 9 on the sleeve member 6, which is adapted to engage the screwthreaded end 8<b> of the stem 8, and the core removed, after which the pipe is thickened to the desired extent by introducing further concrete and applying centrifugal motion.
