Description
-.1 1 1 Device for interrupting the supply of packaging medium The
invention relates to a device for interrupting the supply of packaging medium. consisting of an apparatus for sensing the degree of filling of the retaihing element of the withdrawal wheel, also an apparatus for transmitting the sensing signals to the paskaging medium feed.
Devices for sensing the presence of a sweet and for interrupting the supply of packaging medium in the absence of a sweet in theietaining elements of the withdrawal wheel are known.
For intermittently working machines such a solution appears from DD-PS 127,713, where at every working cadence the presence of a sweet in the feed dish isdetected by a feeler and the position of the feeler in each case is transmitted to the feed roller of the packaging material. In this case in the absence of a sweet the feed roller is lifted and thus the feed of the packaging medium is interrupted.
For continuously working machines such a solution has becone known from DD-PS 138,635. In the case of this solution beside the wrapping wheel there is arranged a sensing control wheel rotating at the same peripheral speed with sensing levers radially pivotably mounted on the circumference, the variation of position of the sensing levers being transmitted by way of a pawl mechanism and a.lever system with cam segment to the feed roller of the packaging medium. In this case the cam rollers of the sensing control wheel are formed at the same time as liftout rolls for lifting out the cam segment, whereby the supply of packaging medium is interrupted.
Furthermore such a device has already been proposed in which again a sensing control wheel with sensing levers mounted radially pivotably on the periphery is arranged rotating with the same peripheral speed beside the wrapping wheel and likewise the variation of position of the sensing levers is transmitted through a pawl mechanism to the feed roll of the packaging medium. This device possesses, in departure from that according to DD-PS 138,635, a closed style of construction of the Dawl mechanism, while the cam rolls of the pawl mechanism, the lift-out ro-"ls for lifting out the cam segment and the sensing levers lie in mutually separate functional planes. These solutions have the disadvantage that for sensing the presence of a sweet and for transmitting the sensing signals to the packaging medium feed in each case a separate d6vice is necessary with a complicated pawl mechanism which is subject to a high stressing, a high degree of soiling and thus high wear. The sensing operation effected by feelers or sensing levers involves an additional nechanic6l.impact stressing of the packaged goods, which has a negqtive effect upon the quality of the packaged goods.
1 Q It'is the aim of the invention to avoid the qualityreducing stressing of the packaged goods in the sensing operation and substantially to reduce the constructional expense and mechanical wear of such devices.
The problem of the invention consists in achieving the sensing of the degree of filling of the retaining jaws of the withdrawal wheel and the transmission of the sensing signals to the packaging medium feedwithout additional mechanica.l.stressing of the packaged goods and without the use of a separate device, with as f ar as possible a self- contained style of construction.
In accordance with the invention the problem is solved in that a blocking pawl is fixedly arranged in a housiDg on one of the shafts of the retaining jaws, with which pawl a pivotably mounted operating lever provided with pawl lever, support roll and can segment roll is associated. the support roll being in operative connection with a cam path. The blocking pawl comprises a carrier surface which is in operative function with the pawl lever of the operating lever. Thus it is possible to maintain the quality of the packaged goods by the protective treatment during the sensing operation and substantially to reduce the construction expense and mechanical wear properties of such devices.
The invention is explained in greater detail herein- after in an example of embodiment with reference to adrawing:
The device consists in its essential parts of the housing 1, externally on which the retaining jaws 2. 3 are arranged on the shafts 4, 5. In the interior of the housing 1 the blocking pawl 6 with carrier surface 7 is secured on the shaft 4. The lever arm 8, which cooperates through the cam roll 9 with the cam path 10, is fitted on the shaft 5. The toothed segments 11, 12, which are in engagement with one another. are situated at the level of the pivot point on the inside of the retaining jaws 2, 3. The operating lever 13 with the can segment roll 14 secured.on the eire-imferenceg-the support roll 15 and the pawl lever 16 is arranged axially parallel with the shaft 4 with the blocking pawl 6, the support roll 15 co-operating with the cam Path 17. The tension spring 18 is also secured to the pawl lever 16. The retaining jaws 2, 3 are connected with one another through the tension spring 18 and clamp the sweet B, as may be seen from the drawing.
The manner of operation of the device is described hereinafter: - When no sweet B is present at the withdrawal point of the singling tray (notshown), then under the control of the cam path 10 in co-operation with the cam roll 9 of the lever arm 8, which is secured on the shaft 5 of the retaining jaw 2, the retaining jaw 2 goes together further than the width of the sqeet B. This closing movement is transmitted by way of the toothed segments 11, 12 to the ret, ining jaw 3. By means of the shaft 4 secured to the 1 - v t 25 1 retaining jaw 3 the blocking pawl 6 secured on the shaft 4 is pivoted out of the range of engagement of the pawl lever 16. In this action the pawl lever 16 is drawn downwards by the tension spring 18, whereby the operating lever 13 and thus the cam segment roll 14 and the support roll 15 are pivoted in the clockwise direction. In this motion the support roll 15 lays itself upon the cam-path 17. Due to the pivoting movement of the operating lever 13 and thud of the cam segment roll 14, the radius of the path of rotation of the cam -segment roll 14, in relation to the centre of rotation of the withdrawal wheel, is enlarged. Thus the cam segment (not shown) of the packaging medium take-off pply is lifted in known manner and the packagiig medium su for these retaining jaws-2, 3 is interrupted.
On repeated approach of the retaining jaws 2, 3 to the withdrawal point of the singling tray., the retaining jaws 2. 3, _controlled by the cam path 10. are returned intothe initial position by means of cam roll 9, lever arm 8, shaft 5 and the toothed segments 11. 12. At the same time, under the control of-the cam path 17 in co-operation with the support roll 15, the pawl lever 16 is lifted to above he carrier surface 7 of the blocking pawl 6, by pivoting of the operating lever 13 in the.counter-clockwise direction. Thus the device is prepared at the withdrawal point of the singling tray for a new withdrawal and sensing oper;tion,, 4
