Abstract

219,406. Webster, A. W., and Kapella, Ltd. April 27, 1023. Finders.-Apparatus for focusing simultaneously two or more lenses of different focal length by mechanism involving the use of screw threads of different pitch comprises an operating - member rotatably mounted on a support, a carriage for each lens hava peripheral surface engaging the operating-member, and screw-threads of different pitch on these surfaces, engaging screw-threads on the operating-member, for displacing the lenses simultaneously when the operating-member is rotated. In the form shown, lenses B, C are mounted in carriages D, E, threaded into a rotary sleeve G, which is in turn threaded into a fixed flange A, and carries an operating-handle. A feather F prevents rotation of the carriages D, E with respect to the flange A. The pitch and hand of the various screw-threads are chosen to produce differential axial movement of the lenses according to their focal lengths. Multiple screwthreads may be employed if rapid axial movement is desired.
