Abstract
Game apparatus comprises a throwing sword (Fig. 1) for throwing and catching a ring (Figs. 2 and 3) of rapier like appearance, the sword comprises a light plastics hollow blade 1, a rubber handle or grip 2, and a hand guard 3 of plastics construction. The blade 1 is rounded off at the end, for safety reasons, by a plastics plug 4. The ring 4 is of hollow plastic construction, shaped as shown for performance reasons. <IMAGE>
Description
SPECIFICATION
The throwing sword and aerodynamic ring
The above apparatus is for use in a new sport, and is of an entirely different construction to that used for weaponry, ceremonial, or display purposes.
It was invented as a means of playing a game that offers an alternative to tennis.
Tennis can only be played on a relatively smooth surface of short grass or shale, with the throwing sword and aerodynamic ring, the surface becomes less relavent to the game.
The throwing sword is used for "serving" or catching the aerodynamic ring, and is constructed as per the specifications for safety and performance reasons only.
It could conceivably be made from almost any other material, but would still be considered a throwing sword if used for the purpose of throwing or catching.
The aerodynamic ring is again so specified for safety and performance reasons, though could be constructed of a variety of materials but would still be considered an aerodynamic ring, if used for the purpose of that intended by the inventor.
According to the present invention, there is provided a sword like implement, to be known as a Throwing Sword, as used for serving and/or catching the second part of the invention, the aerodynamic ring.
The aerodynamic ring is of plastic construction, shaped as per the specifications for ease of travel through the air.
N.B. Any lengths, weights, widths, or measures in the specifications are used only for maximum performance of both Sword and
Ring as tested by the inventor.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example, with reference to the relavent drawings.
Figure 1 shows the throwing sword.
Figure 2 shows the top view of the Aerodynamic Ring.
Figure 3 shows a cross section view of the
Aerodynamic Ring.
Referring to the drawing, the SWORD has a blade. 1. of 600mm in length, and 10mum in diameter, constructed of hollow plastic tubing.
This in turn, is sealed off with a rounded plastic plugs 4.
This handle, or grip. 2. is of moulded rubber construction, approx. 110mum in length and 30mm in diameter.
The GRIP 2. is separated from the BLADE.
1. by the HAND GUARD. 3. again of light plastic construction.
The GUARD. 3. is saucer shaped, and extends back over the hand to the base of the
GRIP. 2.
The AERODYNAMIC RING, Fig. 2. is of hollow plastic construction, with an outside diameter of 160mm and an inside diameter of 120mm, with a depth of 15mm at the maximum width.
The AERODYNAMIC RING Fig. 2. has a weight of approx 759 to 1009. N.B. Weight is directly related to flying/gliding speed, and is therefor a compromise.
The cross section. Fig. 3, shows the shape of the ring, tapering off towards the outside diameter, with a flatter, wider inside edge.
1. A throwing sword used only for catching and/or serving the AERODYNAMIC RING,
2. A Throwing sword for sporting purposes only, as opposed to swords used for duelling, ceremonial, or display.
3. A Throwing sword constructed as per the specifications in Fig. 1, for safety, and maximum performance reasons only.
4. An AERODYNAMIC RING constructed as per the specifications and drawings of Figs. 2 and 3 for safety and maximum performance.
5. An aerodynamic ring, as used for being thrown/served and travelling through the air.
6. A THROWING SWORD and AERO
DYNAMIC RING as per the specifications for use in conjunction with each other, for the purpose of a new sport.
7. A THROWING SWORD and AERO
DYNAMIC RING, substantially as described herein, with reference to Figs. 1, 2 and 3 of the accompanying drawings.
**WARNING** end of DESC field may overlap start of CLMS **.
