Abstract
218,326. Soc. de Manipulation des Liquides. June 30, 1923, [Convention date]. Ball and float valves. -An apparatus for automatically stopping the inflow of liquid when a predetermined level is reached comprises an inlet chamber b communicating by a valve f with a chamber c from which a tube h leads into the cask, a second tube k being contained within the tube h and leading to a chamber d having an opening x for the exit of vent air or for its passage through a tube y with the filling reservoir. When the liquid in the cask reaches the lower end of the tube k the air can no longer escape, but becomes compressed in the chamber c so that the liquid rises rapidly in the tube k, raises a float i in the chamber d, which, through a rod j raises one end of a lever o and so releases a trip lever a so that the inlet valve automatically closes. The filling head may be connected to the cask by a screwed rack.
