Abstract

Electrical conductive electrode C is a perforated metal foil to allow liquid penetration, to the salt impregnated absorbant sponge or paper which is in contact with foil D which acts as the other electrical conductive electrode. The PVC sheet retains excess liquids. The sponge or paper is high resistive when dry, and low resistive when wet or damp. Electrodes C and D are connected to an electrical alarm circuit. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Wet blanket loft sensor Water penertraits top perforated foil, C sponge absorbs water, and bridges the normal dry sponge, to provide a measurable drop in electrical resistance to that of the bottom metal foil D. Electrical connections are made to metal foil C and D, and fed to local batterytransisterised alarm. The plastic PVC damp proof type sheet acts as both electrical insulator and will hold some water to prevent damage.
Blankets can be parrelleled electricalyto alarm.
With referanceto diagram sheet 1 of 2.
C Cis, a perforated metal foil.
B is, water absorbant sponge or paper, fire retard, salt impregnated.
D is, an unperforated metal foil.
A is, a plastic PVC sheet electrical and water proof.

Claims (1)

1. A water based liquid detector, inflexible blanket form, made in sanwich form as shown in diagram, the addition of salt as an inert electrical resistor, when dry high resistance. To a low electrical re sistancewhenasmall amount of liquid strikes the detectors surface. As other detectors rely on the build up of impurities in the liquid to function. The wet blanket loftsensor hasthe impurities ofsaltin- ertly incorporated into it, and does not rely on liquid impurities only, allowing rapid responce to receiver.
