Tool arms and mountings.-In sound reproducing devices a connecting member, arranged between the sound transmitting member and the diaphragm, consists of a part connected with the diaphragm, a part connected with the sound transmitting member and a resilient part to which tension is applied for the purpose of counterbalancing any initial tension on the diaphragm. In an example applied to a telephone receiver, the connecting member is pivoted on knife edges 30 and the parts 33, 34 comprise a bifurcated lever of which the arm 33, connected to the diaphragm, is comparatively light and resilient and the arm 34, connected to the sound transmitting member, is comparatively heavy and rigid. In one form, Figs. 1 and 3, the resilient part 32 is a spring adjusted by a screw 40, but in another form, Fig. 5, two springs 51, 52 are attached to the bifurcated arms 33, 34 and adjusted by means of screws 53, 54, the bifurcated arm being pivoted on knife edges 50. In operation, the nuts 41, by which the arm 33 is connected to the diaphragm, are loosened, adjustment of the sound-transmitting member is carried out, and the nuts 41 tightened again.
