Circular machines.-Relates to control mechanism of jacquard type for a multi-feed latch or bearded-needle machine. The invention is described in connection with a latch needle machine having a rotary needle cylinder. An oscillating ring 22 carries a number of plates, one for each feed. Each plate is pivoted and can be depressed by a pin 25 against the action of a spring to bring a dog or pawl on the under side into the path of a star-wheel. The pins 25, one for each plate, are slidably guided in a head 25<1>. The ring 22 is oscillated by a rod 36, arm 39, and vertical rock shaft 40, the lower end of which carries an arm 41 operated by a cam 42 moving with the take-up ring 4. The pins 25 are connected to coiled springs 44 retained within curved tubes 45 and are operated by means of similar push-pins 25<x> depending from the tubes and resting upon bell cranks 47. These are operated by rods 48 with hooks 49 engageable by the hooks 51 of slidable pawl arms 50 which are normally raised as shown. The arms 50 are pivoted on a bar 52 which is periodically slid in guideways 53 by means of links 76 pivoted to a rocking frame 63 which is operated through connections 65, 66, 67 and a roller 70 from a cam 71 mounted on the ring 4. The arms 50 rest upon the heads of feeler pins 54 slidably mounted in a carrier bar 55 which is normally pressed upwards by a spring. The pins 54 are adapted, when permitted to do so, to pass down through openings in a fixed plate 60. They are lowered as a whole by an arm 61 connected to the rocking frame 63 and when the perforations on an endless travelling band g of paper &c. register with the openings in the plate 60, the corresponding pins 54 allow the arms 50 which rest on them to engage the corresponding hooks 49 and operate the pins 25.
