Abstract

A Gameboard comprises movable sections carrying grid lines or other patterns on their top surfaces which are attached (directly or indirectly) to a base. The sections are attached in such a manner so as to be able to rotate 360 DEG around their point of attachment, without touching one another. Movement of these sections changes the relative positions of the grid lines or other patterns on their surfaces. This feature of movable sections adds complexity to games being played on the Gameboard. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Gameboard with movable playing surfaces This invention relates to a Gameboard.
Gameboards which have grid lines or other patterns on their playing surfaces are used in a number of games. On these boards all the grid lines or the components making up the patterns always have the same relative position to each other throughout the game. The proposed Gameboard allows sections of the board to change position in relation to other sections and hence change the relative positions of the grid lines or patterns on those sections. This feature adds complexity to the game being played on the Gameboard.
According to the present invention there is provided a Gameboard with movable playing surfaces. The Gameboard is comprised of movable sections which carry grid lines or other patterns.
These sections are attached to a base in such a manner as to allow free rotation through 360" around their points of attachment, without touching one another.
An example of the Gameboard is now described with reference to the accompanying drawing. The drawing shows a Gameboard (viewed from above) with 9 movable sections with grid line playing surfaces. The Gameboard comprises of a base 1 on which smaller boards (sections) 2 are attached.
These boards are attached in such a manner so as to allow free rotation through 360" around their point of attachment, without touching one another. The point of attachment need not necessarily be at the centres of the boards, as is the case of those in the drawing. These movable boards carry grid lines or patterns 3 and also markings such as arrows or coloured bands or similar (not shown) to allow realignment with the base always in the same way.
The base has corresponding markings (not shown) and alignment is achieved when both sets of markings meet. The base also has markings 4 between the movable boards to link together the grid lines or patterns on adjacent movable boards when they are aiigned with the base.
Another form of the Gameboard is, if the movable sections are raised up on supports at different heights above the base, the movable sections are attached to the supports and can freely rotate around their point of attachment, without touching one another.
Athird form of the Gameboard is, if the movable sections are raised up on supports at different heights above the base and are attached in such a manner to the supports so that they are able to move above of below each other without touching one another. In this form re-alignment and grid linel pattern markings may not be required on the base.
This invention applies to Gameboards with any number of movable sections, of any shape and carrying any pattern on their surfaces.
1. A Gameboard comprised of movable sections which carry grid lines or other patterns. These sections are attached to a base in such a manner so as to allow rotation through 3600 around their point of attachment, without touching one another.
Movement of these sections changes the relative positions of the grid lines or patterns on their surfaces.
2. A Gameboard as claimed in Claim 1 with movable sections mounted on supports at different heights above the base.
3. A Gameboard as claimed in Claim 2 with movable sections mounted so they are able to move above or below each other without touching one another.
