Abstract

217,476. Barlow, T. P. Sept. 4, 1923. Openers, cleaners, etc.; feeding openers, cleaners, &c. - An opener, cleaner, &c. for cotton, cotton waste, &c., of the kind described in Specification 916/15, is provided with an additional combing, disintegrating, and cleaning device through which the material is passed. This additional device consists of a roller k provided with teeth or bristles, and enclosed in a casing k<1>, which may be pervious on the lower side to act as a grid. The material passing from the cage e is directed by an inclined plate p<1> to a pair of aprons q, r passing over rollers r<1>, r<2> and angular bars s pressed together by springs s<1>. A mote knife o may be provided; or the edge of the casing k<1> may be employed for this purpose. The material is delivered by suction through a pipe p. The feed arrangement to the roller k may be of the ordinary roller and dish kind. The delivery pipes p may lead to a common air trunk, as described in Specification 200,717.
