Abstract

A gutter adaptor for traversing angle bend joints, comprises corrugations to accommodate changes in cross section, and size. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION A Multi-angle Gutter Adaptor This invention relates to a multi-angle corrugated gutter adaptor that can traverse both horizontal and vertical angles.
Traditionally, gutters for buildings and domestic dwelling houses were made from lead, which was eventually replaced with the use of cast iron for reasons of cost of materials, and in the last decade cast iron has been replaced with the use of plastics, for the same reasons, with the additional reason of a lighter and more easy to handle materials with simple fixing details. They are produced in straight lengths, bends, angles, and adaptors.
In order-to keep production costs within reason, only certain angles are made as standard, namely 90", 120", and 135". Any deviation from these production items is non-standard with associated cost penalties.
This invention offers a multi-angle gutter adaptor, capable of traversing all the current standard production angle bends. The flexibility of the adaptor is achieved by corrugations in the adaptor.
The adaptor traverses both horizontal and vertical angles by using a similar principle of movement as that of an accordion.
The specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of a simple reference to the accompanying drawings, which are: 1/5 shows a perspective drawing of a production position for a half round gutter 2/5 shows a perspective drawing of a production position for a box section gutter 3/5 illustrates the half round gutter showing a plan, 3/5 fig. 1, elevation, 3/5 fig. 2, and cross section, fig. 3/5 fig. 3, in a fabricated position 4/5 illustrates the box section gutter showing a plan, 4/5 fig. 1, elevation, 4/5 fig. 2, and cross section, 4/5 fig. 3, in a fabricated position 5/5 shows the transition from one cross section to another, as well as from one size to another, in a production position.
Various cross sections are appropriate to the invention, and is not.limited to those cross sections shown on the drawings 1/5 to 5/5. These serve to show the versatility of the invention. Similarly, all transitions from one size to another, as well as one cross section to another, can only be represented here, as in drawing 5/5.
1. A multi-angle gutter adaptor incorporating corrugations and that can be used in the jointing of gutters.
2. A multi-angle gutter adaptor as claimed in 1, wherein the gutter adaptor can be used to join straight portions of the gutter in any plane traversing between 45" and 1800.
3. A multi-angle gutter adaptor as claimed in 1 and 2, wherein the adaptor can be used to join portions of gutter at different levels.
4. A multi-angle gutter adaptor as claimed in 1,2 and 3, wherein the gutter adaptor may be used in connection of straight portions of gutter.
5. A multi-angle gutter adaptor as claimed in 1,2, 3 and 4, wherein the gutter adaptor can be used to provide a transition from one size to another, small to large.
6. A multi-angle gutter adaptor as claimed in 1,2, 3,4 and 5, wherein the gutter adaptor can be used to provide a transition of cross section to cross section.
