Bakers' ovens.-An air-heating furnace is connected to a. baker's oven in such manner that a constant circulation of hot air is maintained between the furnace and the oven, whilst the products of combustion can be utilized at will for heating the oven externally or internally. Air-heating furnaces.-The furnace consists of a rectangular combustion chamber 7 fired by downwardly directed gas burners 26, and arranged beneath an air-heating chamber 6 having horizontal and vertical baffles 5, which cause the air to follow a tortuous path. At the four sides of the combustion chamber are return fires 14 for the exhaust air from the oven. The air from the chamber 6 is drawn through the pipe 9 by a fan 10, and is supplied through the flue 11 to the interior of a vertical oven 1 of the kind described in Specification 185,460, having inlet and exhaust conduits 2, 3, the latter of which lead back to the air-heating chamber 6 through the flues 12, 14. The products of combustion from the chamber 7 are passed through a flue 16 to a jacket flue 17 around the oven, and dampered connections 19, 22 are provided by which a regulable portion of combustion products and air can be mixed with air and combustion products respectively. Combustion products may also be passed direct from the chamber 7 to the chamber 6. Expansion of the conduits 2, 3 is allowed for by sliding joint with the sockets 25.
