Abstract

216,299. Wigginton, G. P. April 23, 1923. Bookbinding.-A binder for permanently binding loose sheets having T-shaped or other apertures at their binding edges comprises two bars 3, Fig. 2, hinged' at the covers and carrying coacting pairs of posts 6 which are in sliding engagement and are permanently locked together by clamping-devices 14 actuated by pressing the covers together. Each device 14 is disposed within the body of the sheets and comprises a blade spring 8, Fig. 4, slotted at 11 to receive the posts 6 and riveted to two overlapping slotted members 9. The spring 8 is flattened by compressing the sheets, the members 9 pressing the posts 6 together to produce permanent interlocking of the toothed edges 7 of the posts. In the case of sheets with circular holes, semi-circular posts may be used.
