Abstract

A shopping trolley converts by single action to a stable seat having a secondary frame B to support the seat A. In the folded position of the seat, a member C projects to support the trolley for loading. The bag may be positioned on either side of the trolley, and packages may be supported on the member C in the use position of the trolley. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Shopping trolley/folding seat This invention relates to a personal shopping trolley which can easily be converted to provide a stable seat while retaining the trolley's normal carrying functions.
Figure 1 shows a perspective illustration of the framework of the trolley in the 'seat' mode. (Bag removed to show construction.) NOTE: In this position the wheels are not in contact with the ground. The action of folding up the seat lowers its back edge and pivots the support strut outwards until the completely closed position is reached. The strut is locked into the support position by the downward pressure of the seat and contact against the lower cross-rail on the back frame.
Figure 2 % 3 shows front and side elevation of trolley in foldedistanding position, supported by angled strut.
Figure 4 illustrates the attachment of standard store wire basket to bag support hooks, which effectively seals the trolley's bag to permit use in self-service stores without risk of goods being placed in trolley bag before payment.
This invention relates to a two wheeled shopping trolley which can be quickly and easily converted into a stable seat.
Figure 1 shows the action of folding down the seat (A) which moves the secondary frame (B) to form the back legs of the seat and raises the wheels clear of the ground to provide a stable seat.
Figure 2 shows the seat in the folded up position; this action projects a member (C) below the bag unit to give the stability for the loading position.
Figure 3 shows the trolley at normal pulling or pushing angle with the wheels making normal contact with the ground.
Figure 4 indicates the bag (D) positioned on the seat side of the main frame (E) I a simpie unclip ping operation, with the lower section of the bag kept in contact with the main frame by means of a 'Velcro' pad.
Figure 5 shows the bag in this new position al lowing the stabilizing member to give support to bulky packages.
Figure 6 shows a perspective view of the trolley in the seat mode.
1. A two-wheeled shopping trolley with all the conventional uses plus the addition of converting to provide a stable seat by a single action.
2. A shopping trolley as claimed in Claim 1 with the bag hooks shaped to allow a standard wire basket to be attached to the trolley to allow its use in self-service stores.
