Abstract

Associated pieces of information or symbols, e.g., different Countries/National Flags or Capital Cities, are displayed on the halves of dominoes. Matching is facilitated by 'split-markers', that are in the form of a colour, shape, design or numeral, that only forms a complete picture or a recogniseable numeral if the correct domino-halves have been matched. This acts as a checking device. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Geographical domino game This invention relates to a domino game.
Domino is a well known game which is played by one or several players using rectangular pieces that are vertically divided into two equal halves by a line and then placed alongside each other; domino-half alongside domino-half; to conform to a prescribed plan or pattern.
According to the present invention each rectangular domino piece is divided into two halves by a vertcal line across the narrower sides of the rectanlge and each half is hereby referred to as a 'DOMINO-HALF'. Each domino-half has a name of a country, picture of a national flag or a capital city of a country displayed. The object of the game is to match the country/the national flag/and capital city by placing them alongside each other in the usual way of domino-half alongside domino-half.
According to the present invention each dominohalf is provided with a 'split-marker' in the form of a part-numeral, part-picture, part-sign or part-colour which will be identical to another split marker or complementary to it in such a way as to form a recognisable numeral, shape or pattern when reunited only with the correct corresponding splitmarker as one domino-half is placed alongside a correct domino-half. These split-markers act as a further checking system to ensure that the correct corresponding country/national flag/and capital city has been matched and further ensures the continuity of the game till all the pieces have been placed out in their correct positions. The split-markers are pre-planned to form a continuous chain, no matter which piece started the domino game.If the 'splitmarkers' are numerals, this could further act as a scoring sytem when the correct domino-halves have been matched.
The purpose of the invention is to offer learning in the field of geography to people of all ages in the form of a game.
This matching of 'domino-halves' may be used with pairing possibilities such as:- Books and their authors; Singers and their songs; Paintings and their artists; music and composers; Inventions and their inventors; Discoveries and their discoverers; Sportsmen and their achievements; Famous people and historical events.
A domino game may be designed to combine groups of the above pairing possibilities to form a GENERAL KNOWLEDGE type of domino game which would include the pairing of QUESTIONS and ANSWERS on GENERAL KNOWLEDGE on any subject.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows in perspective, the domino game in play using the geographical series of Country/ National Flag matched with Capital City.
Figure 2 shows the function of the 'split-markers' only, as a checking device and when numerals are used, they act as a scoring system in the game.
Figure 3 shows the General Knowledge type of domino game in play using the pairing possibilities on any subject.
Referring to the drawings the Geographical Domino Game may proceed as in Figure 1 placing the correct Country/National Flag alongside the correct Capital city and making sure that the 'splitmarkers' are also matching as illustrated by examples 10.
Figure 2 illustrates the importance of the 'splitmarkers' only, as a checking device, illustrated by examples 11 and 12 and using the 'split-markers' for scoring points during the game as illustrated by examples 13 1415 and 16. If the wrong Country/ National Flag and Capital City has been matched, then clearly, it would immediately be noticeable on the 'split-markers' NOT matching and the player would need to think again.
Figure 3 shows in perspective the General Knowledge type of domino game during play where pairing possibilities may be applied on any subject and examples 17 illustrate Geography combined with History Mathematics, Music and Science.
1. The Geographical Domino Game is designed to teach and give practice in Geography to people of all ages in the form of a Domino Game, whereby one has to match the correct Country/National Flag with the correct Capital City.
2. The 'split-markers' on the domino-halves are designed to prevent the game from getting "stuck", if the wrong domino-halves have been matched and therefore ensures continuity in the game and they may also be used in the form of numerals as a scoring system.
3. The General Knowledge type of domino game is an extension and combination of Claim 1 and Claim 2 whereby the pairing possibilities are utilised in subjects such as Geography as in Claim 1 and combining this with Mathematics; Songs and Singers; Books and Authors; Discoveries and their Discoverers; Inventors and their Inventions; People and Historical events and in fact any Question and Answer on General Knowledge.
