Abstract

An apparatus comprises a pouring nozzle which is provided in a base wall of a ladle receiving a molten metal, a means for controlling the flow of the molten metal from the ladle into a tundish provided with an upper lid, a guide tube which passes through an opening provided in the upper lid and is inserted vertically into the tundish, and a protection tube which is provided between the ladle and the tundish and which serves to prevent the molten metal which is flowing out of the pouring nozzle from coming into contact with the atmosphere, wherein the inner surface of the guide tube extends downward and outward at an angle of inclination of at least 5<o> with respect to the axis of the guide tube.
