Abstract
203,695. Frerichs, H. Sept. 8, 1922, [Convention date]. Plastic compositions containing blood.-Blood, to which a small amount of an agglutinant such as gum tragacanth or other gum or gum-resin has been added, is heated to boiling-point, treated with formaldehyde, dried, and ground to powder. The powder is mixed with 10-15 per cent of its weight of a mixture of grease or fat, waterglass, and caustic alkali, a suitable mixture containing 250 grammes each of beef suet and waterglass and 100 grammes of a 15 per cent caustic-soda solution. The mixture is subjected to heat and pressure, resulting in a product resembling ebonite.
