Abstract

An entrainment separator for separating liquids or solids from gases, comprising a housing (10) with an inlet (14) at one end, an opposed outlet (34) for liquids or solids at the other end, a gas outlet (32) extending through the side of the housing, a horizontal planar adjustable surface (16) positioned between inlet (14) and gas outlet (32), a conic deflector (20) extending inward from the housing positioned around and beneath the horizontal planar surface (16), supporting the horizontal planar surface by adjustable elements (18) positioned on conic deflector (20), a tube (22) attached to the bottom side of planar surface (16) and extending downward through the opening in conic deflector (20), and a funnel (24) with a downwardly extending spout (26) supported by tube (22) via adjustable elements (40-43). If desired, the separator can employ a spray nozzle (3) to introduce a mist of liquid to aid the separation. Cleaning nozzle (36) can be employed to wash down all surfaces whenever cleaning is desired.
