Abstract

A spinning rotor (1) made from steel (1a) for an open end spinning machine is provided with a thinwalled rotor wall (3) with a fibre collecting groove (4) and a locally limited, hardened zone (11) comprising the fibre collecting groove (4) at the largest inside diameter (B). Owing to the partial hardening of the rotor wall (3) high wear resistance is achieved for the fibre collecting groove (4) and the finished shape and roundness of the spinning rotor (1) made from unhardened steel (1a) for application on the open end spinning machine is maintained.
