Abstract

A ball joint comprises a cylindrical housing 24, a resiliently deformable plastics bush 25 and a hard plastics ball 26. The bush 25 is formed with a cylindrical inner surface and a necked outer surface and is deformed upon insertion of the ball to produce a spherical bearing surface. The assembled ball and bush are inserted into the housing which restrains the end portions of the bush radially whereby the ball is retained between the end portions in the assembled bush. The ball joint may be used at the connection of a gear lever 11 with the output shaft 20 of a gear box. <IMAGE>
