Abstract

A disc brake suitable for a bicycle or light motorcycle comprises a carrier member 2 which is secured to the frame of the bicycle or motorcycle and which slidably supports a pair of brake pads 10, 11. Two caliper members 15, 16 each have arms 18, 19 which terminate in contact areas 22, 23 in engagement with the pads 10, 11. By rotating the calipers in the plane A the spacing of the contact points 22, 23 measured in the direction perpendicular to the plane of the disc is decreased and the pads are forced against the disc. The rotation is effected by a Bowden cable connected between the calipers. Brake pad wear is compensated for by adjusting screw 24 <IMAGE>
