Abstract

A rail fastener assembly includes a base plate (12) and at least two rail locator members (48) which are formed integrally with the base plate to be located on opposite sides of the rail (R). There are also at least two clip holders (30) formed integrally with said base plate (12) and a resilient clip (38) associated with each said clip holder (30) for engaging the base flange of the rail (R) to secure the rail in place. The clip holders (30) each include an aperture (36) through which the substantially planar clip (38) extends. A pair of integral legs (44) of each clip holder is of height relative to the aperture (36) so as to provide for flexing of the associated clip between them the aperture and the rail, about the fulcrum provided by the upper wall (34a) of the aperture so that the clip (38) is biased into engagement with the rail (R). Shoulders (46) formed on the legs (44) serve for approximately positioning the associated clip (38). <IMAGE>
